ABOUT HYDROPONICS

Hydroponics is an innovative way to grow produce year round, even in the winters of New England. The process entails first germinating plants in small pods, usually made of material such as peat, coconut husk or stonewool for example. After a few weeks, seedlings are transplanted into hydroponic media beds. We utilize the “NFT” or nutrient field technique in which plants grows in a channel fed a constant stream of nutrient rich water.  With the absence of soil, plant roots spread rapidly and are able to access more nutrients. After a few weeks in the NFT channels, using just organic pest control methods such as beneficial insects, the results are rich, full bodied plants that are quickly harvested and retail ready.
